Cary – Episode #8©

In Joe Shumock’s book, A Letter to Die For, you will remember that I lost my adoptive parents in a tragic automobile accident. That incident and everything linked to it took away the life I had planned. Through whirlwind events and changes I found I was not prepared to make quick decisions.  A young female, all alone with unanswered questions and a strong desire to produce answers, I embarked on a journey without thinking about the dangers that might be lurking ahead.

My father’s attorney was very helpful with details of legal matters that must be handled. Some would leave me okay financially, just not emotionally.  Eventually, I was able to move on with things like finding an apartment and delving more into my new job.

I planned one last visit to the house where my parents had lived. I thought about all the good times and care they had given me over the years.  In my dad’s study I unlocked files to search for anything that might need my attention.  A folder labeled Cary’s Adoption Paperscaught my eye. Inside was my birth certificate and a handwritten note from my dad implying that my birth mother was to leave a note for me. That set the ball rolling and headed me to New Orleans.

Until next time,
