Hi Friends.
Well, here we are in the small town of Indian River, Michigan, some twenty-five miles south of the Mackinac Bridge. Big Mac-often called Mighty Mac-is the fifth longest suspension bridge in the world. The structure spans the Straits of Mackinac and connects the Upper and Lower peninsulas of Michigan. We viewed the bridge from Mackinaw City.
Pat and I became homeless on June 13th, when we sold our house in Foley, Alabama. Well, not exactly homeless. We are living in a 20′ 11″ RV van and traveling to many places we’ve never visited before.
On Saturday, July 16th, departing from Mackinaw City, we took a ferry—a fast one—to Mackinac Island. Breakfast and then a stroll around the island. After we had walked for a while, we stopped and talked with a woman coming from the opposite direction. She informed us it was eight miles, total, around the island.
We had walked four miles. Pat and I looked at each other and agreed that eight miles was too far for either of us to walk so we decided to go back the way we’d come. Eight miles … Whew … Can you imagine walking eight miles?
KIDDING … But we did go for a long walk around this beautiful island.
FYI—No autos allowed on the island, only bikes, horses and carriages.
We hope you’ll go with us by enjoying these posts.
