As you may already know, a new Joe Shumock novel will be coming out soon. The Last Parade is the fifth and latest in Joe’s popular mystery/suspense letter series.
This tale of a potential governmental takeover is staged with Washington, D.C. as its base. But as with other Joe Shumock Letter Series novels, unanticipated additional locations may also come into play. In the past we have followed the Letter Series characters from New Orleans to Charlotte and from the U.S. to Prague in eastern Europe.
As mentioned, this story deals with an attempted takeover of our government. What has not been said until now is that a pandemic—COVID-19—is taking hold across the globe as the planning for a coup in the U.S. progresses. Will the pandemic help or hinder the attempted takeover?
It has been both fun and a challenge to write this story. A significant amount of research has gone into the development of The Last Parade.
As a side note, I am often asked where the ideas for new stories come from. My true answer is that I seem to have an active and vivid imagination. Connect that with a willingness to research and you always have the building blocks for a new story.
